Sounds From The Barn
$25.00
I first visited New York’s Catskills Mountains in 2016. My bandmates and I had just graduated from college in North Carolina and looking for a new place to call home. Our friend Oakley Munson had just bought a house in the upstate hamlet of Livingston Manor. Like a godsend, he invited us all to move into his large country home to continue our musical journey together.
After touring nonstop for three years, 2020 rolled around and we had stripped the rubber off the wheels of our van. Around the same time, Covid made its grand entrance and jammed a fork in our plans, which forced us to work on other projects during this time of uncertainty. Oakley devised a plan to make over the old barn on our property into a recording studio.
We spent two years, with the help of neighbors and friends, converting the big wooden barn into a soundproofed, climate-controlled home studio. The new space drastically changed the way we created and recorded music, allowing us to reclaim our DIY spirit and take full creative control over the process. We recorded our third album in familial comfort over the course of a few fridgid winter months. These images are a peek inside this time, recording experience, and people I love.
